ION API flow Do While documentation/examples

Hi,

There is "Do While" element available in API flow.

However I can't find anything on this subject in ION documentations.

Can you please point me to a documentation/examples?

I run List M3 API in API flow, now I need to iterate through records of List output and do something for each record.

How can I have current iteration in JQ filter?

something like this (instead of $NNN)

I tried anything I could think of, nothing worked.

Hi, We can have something like "${DoWhileName.output}.iteration" like this which gives the current iteration of the dowhile, but as for the first time it's value will be "null" because the actual DoWhile haven't have any output. But from the second iteration it going to increase from 1, 2, 3...

For this kind of scenario we can take dowhile output as input to JQ and then have an if condition in filter to give us the based on iteration value.

Here is the example:

This expression basically checks if dowhile iteration value is null then gives us the value from array's zeroth element else gives us the nth element.

Here is what I did.

JQ transform "JQAdd" inside the Do-While

JSON output from API flow

Looks like when I just enter Do-While, iteration is not null but 1

OK, it works if I put it this way

This works for M3 API results in the parameter tab I used this:

"input" : "${GETHEAD.head_response}.results[0]",

then in the filter tab I used this

if .iterator then .input.records[.iterator] else .input.records[0] end

Does anyone have a working example of an API Flow with a Do While loop they can share? Tried everything listed in the post and nothing is working. What is being used in the API call request to reference the "iteration"?

Thanks for the reply, small update in JQTransform2 JQ filter, we can now directly use ".input.order_details[.i - 1]" as JQ Filter instead of "if and else" statement.
