Best practices in integration

Hi,

I would like to ask for your advice on best practices in terms of integration in a Cloud environment.

An important part of the integration is based on the use of standardization of messages in the form of BODs through ION between the different application components of the information system.
But, among these exchanges, it seems to me that this mechanism is not always the most appropriate according to the context and the needs in my understanding.

For example, let's imagine a textbook case: that M3 has to give the complete image of its stock to a third party application once a day. What solutions are available to me to produce this information?

I don't think that tracking the various stock movements over time through BODs is an ideal solution, especially if the recipient is not able to adapt to this continuous communication.
Should we consider taking advantage of the fact that some M3 tables are replicated in the data lake? But doesn't this risk putting us back in the same situation as before?

I am interested in your inputs on this reflection to have a more precise idea of the best scenario to consider.

Hi Denis,

not sure if best practice but a way to solve this case is by scheduling a MNS260 entry. This would generate via CRS945 an event to generate a (custom) BOD for further distribution. In MNS260 you can provide some parameters to make is a bit configurable and make it a bit "a fake" pub-sub rather then a "pure point-2-point" solution.

Eventhough there are quite some steps in the end-to-end process, it runs very stable for us.

I started to study the main principles behind this approach.
Using my example, do you think this approach can be adapted to extract the entire M3 stock every night? This would generate, for example, as many BODs as the number of stock records on a pseudo scheduled event. Did I understand the intention correctly?

Hi Denis, we are using a custom(ised) BOD that uses MMS060MI.LstBalID to loop to all records into one BOD.

Sorry - not being a developer, I had my doubts about the feasibility of this type of possibility even though I did consider that we should talk about it. So your answer confirms it.

Can there be no limit to the size of a BOD when practicing like this?

Do you have an example or excerpt of this custom BOD to share to see what it looks like?

...just a side note...i would not expect this to be an integration example-when source is 'big data', it makes no sense to duplicate it in targets...rather, the 3rd party should be able to query source data on demand (api)....although, we might be limited in having this choice...
