Excel Integration - Application Engine Processes

Hello everyone,

is there a possibility with Infor v12 MT version to call an Application Engine Process from Excel with Office Integration add-in, VBA or anything else? Or are there some Modeling functions available (i.e. to add dimension elements) with Office Integration?

Hi,

unfortunately neither is possible/available in MT. Depending on the use case, it might be possible to create an AppStudio report/dashboard that fulfills the requirements (e.g. upload a CSV of new dimension elements and have an AppEngine process pick it up and process it).

Hello Eva,

as of now there is no native support. We are planning to add this possibility (e.g. custom function to trigger existing AE process or even possibility to create new one) but I cannot share any timeline as of now.

Btw. I think there is possibility to call AE process utilizing VBA, at least I remember something like that was done by @martin-reischl (at least if I remember correctly and maybe it is just for OnPrem solution). Maybe Martin can help with that.

As for Modeling part directly in Office Integration - as of now there are no plans to have direct modeling capabilities. Sorry for that

Hi Eva, Vit,

my routine is working only on premise, I have no solution for MT. Basically, what I do is use VBA to call the App Engine process executor tool. This has nothing to do with Excel Integration. A method to call App Engine from Excel Integration would still be very welcome.

Aha, ok, but I guess it should be possible to leverage ION API to call AE process, the only thing is how to authenticate...

I believe it could be done as I know there is (at least was) possibility to use VBA to control web, see e.g.

Of course it might need some more configuration on the MT side. Can be nice project for someone interested
