Power BI Template Datasets for Syteline

I was wondering if there are any existing communities or resources around Power BI datasets specific to syteline. It seems since we all start with the same set of tables we would be able to leverage basic datasets that have already been created by other companies. We are about to start diving into the Power BI world ourselves and would be willing to share what we create that would apply to other customers, but wasn't sure where we would go to share this type of information or if its even possible. I checked the SUN resources and didn't see any recently shared files or collaboration on there.

We're starting both a Data Quality and Data Model project next year to help present information to decision makers without the need to "know" where the data resiudes. This will use Power BI for pretty reporting and Power Query for analysis/detail reporting.

I would be interested in working together to make a model accessible to other Syteline users.

The Cyberscience product CyberQuery already has a Data Dictionary defined - and their product also provides for abstraction of data location to allow managers (say) to list meaningful information rather than table/column names.

We are looking at Cyberquery vs BIRST vs (whatever else is out there) because Dataviews do not provide the reporting functionality we need. Can you tell me what made you decide to use Power BI?

We are using Intellidash, the company loves it. It has all pre-built reports with many ways of slicing and dicing the data any ways you want. There is no guessing about what tables to use, no recreating the wheel, and very user friendly. Their support department will work with the end users as well, not just the IT team. It works with on-prem and cloud.

I've also used Power BI in the past with a different customer. There were some particular metrics they wanted to show as specific KPI indicators (widgets like stop light, speedometers, ect.) and these reports were customer facing. For security purposes these reports were built in Power BI.

We use Tableau on prem. It's pretty powerful and has a lot of capabilities. I wasn't here when the decision was made to use Tableau but thought I would mention it in case you wanted to take a look.

We originally purchase Business Vault and been live for 3 years now and still don't have it installed and are being told its phased out and to upgrade and get BIRST. We looked into going to the cloud so we could use BIRST and ran into many road blocks so we are back to square 1 of needing reporting and looking for how to provide it from data across different platforms. We have multiple ERP systems in place across our entities and Power BI was something we saw that would integrate them all very easily. We did a couple webinars and training sessions and thought it looked like a great option for little cost since our company already uses Microsoft Team and Apps. I haven't heard of many of these ones listed below but I am definitely going to look into them! We aren't stuck on anything yet we just need to start getting some decent reporting that we have been lacking ever since we moved into Infor products.

When you say there are prebuilt reports - do they already tie in and work with Infor Syteline, Factory Track or any other software?

I don't know if they have branched out beyond SyteLine. Since Factory Track information is passed to SyteLine, you do have reports for that information.

@mtolliver We are cloud and have started utilizing Power BI pretty heavily. There doesn't seem to be much out there for Syteline & Power BI. At this point, we have developed Shipping and Backlog visuals and an interactive Customer Map. I would be interested to see what you have done with it and share!
