Initial Load of LSF Data into Data Lake

We are currently working on Migrating from ST to Cloudsuite Multi-tenant. I have an IPA that creates a demographic file and after cleaning it up and working with Infor, it was recommended that I write my IPA against the Data Lake.

Our Data Lake is not yet populated, I'd like your ideas on the most efficient way to get our LSF data to the Data Lake. We have 15+ years of data to bring over.

I know there are many things to consider like the amount of data we bring over, but I really need to start with understanding the best approach.

Hi Joy, I think Raghu answered the first question that there is a Java utility that can put files to Data Lake. Those files need to be properly prepared.

If you are automating it yourself, the code can simply use the APIs we offer in the cloudsuite to get data to Data Lake.

These APIs vary depending on how your use cases are matched, but in short there is the IMS API through ION Suite, and the Direct to Data Lake through Data Fabric Suite.

We also have data "ETL" processes built into ION to support fetching data from a Database, some formatting and transformation to ND JSON with incremental loading. Look at the ION Data Loader and ION AnySQL database options.

We also have utilities such as the Home page widget for Atlas Upload and the Infor Labs Excel Plugin. However these are more user centric and not for at scale.

There is the Data Catalog schema generator that can build the schemas as well as several of the above methods also can generate schemas.

You would consider how you ETL the data. Load full or incrementally or both . Is this Archive data? are there deletes in the data? Audit and reconcile, re-run considerations... consider the Number of tables as there can be a lot in Lawson..

The data fabric training course would be a great step to getting a grounding of these options.

Thank you Kevin for the information! I have a couple of people on my team that took the data fabric class but don't know how to do the initial load of data.

I believe loading our historical data is part of the work that is to be done by our Infor Project Team, but I'm not sure when that is in our Project timeline and would like to get started on our RICE work. I will take a look at the APIs and start with loading the last few months of data into the Business Classes I need to start the RICE work.
