Simple Notification Workflow

Hi Everyone,

I am working with Infor OS on premise and wanting to get some simple notifications setup for our users. I have Syteline sending a BOD over to ION just fine and I have built an activation policy and workflow. I am looking to just have this notification hit the users inbox so they can see it and thats it. Not looking for tasks or anything.

This is the workflow I have currently. It works fine.

The only thing I can't figure out, and its probably a system design, is why does the notification create a task?

Am I doing something wrong? I would like it to just hit the users inbox.

Hi Ryan,
You do nothing wrong but you see the difference between Inbox and Ming.le - Tasks UI.
Opening the Inbox you can see all the different types in the Inbox

The Bell you see is a Notification like expected.
However in the Ming.le - Tasks you will see both Tasks and Notifications from Workflows.
I advise to use the new Inbox.

Thanks for the information! I get what you are saying. The only thing though is that if I view the inbox, the tasks number still stays there...

So users might want to keep an item in their inbox to look at the next day or something...but that little red indicator on the envelope stays red so they don't get alerted to new inbox items. Is that correct?

That red dot is just to indicate something new in the Inbox. Check if the dot is still there when you refresh the screen now.
The Inbox can be used as Utility App too.

Not sure if you're on SL V9 or V10. If V10, have you looked at using the New External Workflow Wizard to send a Pulse Alert instead? This saves you the effort of creating the Activation Policy and Workflow in ION and has a lot more flexibility about how to trigger the message Pulse Alerts are very simple messages and you can tweak the message content via SUBSTITUTE statements in the resulting Event Handler.
