How to move components (forms, IDOs) from development to production environment

Hello,

Can anyone clarify what the standard procedure is for moving components (ie forms, IDOs) from a Mongoose cloud development environment to -for example- a production environment? I am unable to find any documentation that covers this. I did find a post a while back suggesting to use SQL scripting to update the forms database, but I'm not sure if this approach will work for cloud environments.

In SyteLine/CSI, You can use "FormSync" to Import and Export forms and form components.

For IDOs, you can use "IDO Import Wizard" and "IDO Export Wizard".

For events, dataviews, replication documents, etc you can use "App Metadata Transport"

I would use the deployment form. It will move everything from tables, IDOs, forms, global objects all at once. I have some documentation on how to use it. I will attach it here.

The Infor Documentation is minimal but there is one document called About Form Synchronization and many places in the document it refers to the Infor Help. They have moved most of their documentation on this to the Help section if you search "Form Synchronization". Hope this helps!

I'm pasting my notes on deployment. My original notes are from OneNote and have some screenshots. But I'm losing the screenshots and numbering by pasting here. I can email them to you if you want.

Deploying Forms to Production

Use the Deployment form in TRN form to create a new deployment package zip file
1. Click on the "Export using form, selected items and referenced items" radio button.

Type = Forms
Filter use an asterisk to limit the list: FM_Menu*
Scope = Site
Click the Refresh button to see a list and check the forms you want

After selecting the forms you want, then click the "Create Scripts" button to create the deployment package

Use the Deployment form in PRD to import a deployment package.
1. Click on "Export using AccessAs and Object Prefix" radio button (This is selected by default)

At the bottom of the form in the "Deploy Applet" section

Click the "Import" button and select the file to deploy
Click the "Execute Scripts" button
Click the "View Log" button

If the form has a new IDO, then the form will probably get an error saying that the IDO is not found when you run the form.
1. Waiting until the next day seems to fix this.
2. I also had success running the "Refresh Farm Metadata" form.
  1. Click on the button titled "Refresh Farm IDO Metadata"
Security
1. Forms that anyone in AECI can execute go in security group: Mongoose-AECI-General
2. You will need to create a new security group if the form is limited to specific users
  1. Example: Mongoose-AECI-BuildingServices group was created for admin forms that only Building Services uses (Office Supply Item Master)
3. To add a new form to a group
  1. Open the Groups form
  2. Search for Mongoose groups:
    1. Mongoose-AECI* then press F4
    2. Click on the Group Name in the list
    3. Click the "Group Authorizations" button. This opens the "Object Authorizations for Group"
    4. Click the Plus button
    5. Enter the name of the new form that you want to assign to the group
4. To create a new Group (In User Management)
  1. User Management (Click on your name on right hand side of Infor window and then select User Management)
  2. Expand Configure
    1. Master Data Types
    2. Security Roles
Install workflow email template if necessary
If the solution has a report, then add the report to the "Background Task Definition".

Mongoose Reports

Mongoose Reports require a Report form and a Report Criteria form. There is a Runtime Builder wizard to create new reports.

Mongoose reports also require that the "Background Task Definition" is defined for the report. The Background Task Definition is automatically created when using the Runtime Builder report wizard.

But when the report is installed in PRD, the "Background Task Definition" is not automatically created in PRD. You can manually enter the Background Task Definition for the report from the Background

Open the Background Task Definition
Click the Plus sign to add a new Task Definition. Note that you don't need to add a Background Task Definition for the Report Criteria form.
Enter the information like this:
