How to get files from *.zip file

Hello,

I have a situation that we are receiving "zip" file from customer which contains several files such as *.xml, *.pdf, etc. Afterwards we need to get specific files out of this zip file and transfer them into specific location. XML needs to be mapped to BOD and send to Infor LN, PDF needs to be transferred into IDM, ...

There is no problem how to deal with specific files but the problem is how to unzip the file and use those files in dataflow.

Does anyone has any experience with this? Can you help?

Hi Tomas,

Data flows doesn't have zip/ compress capabilities directly. It seems you need a orchestrator that can receive the files and unzip them into folders (probably based on file types).

BTW, How are you getting the zip file from the customer? via email/ ftp or..?

There are some automation options that are going to be released soon which may help you. I will update again once they are released. In the meanwhile, the pre-requisite for ION remains that the files to pickup and process (map to BOD or deliver to IDM) are available in a source folder.

The customers are sending the zip file via mail or using FTP. The problem is that the files in one zip can have random filenames so we need to keep them related by renaming (e.g. put some unique prefix to unzipped filenames).

It seems we need to use some automatic process outside ION and then let ION to work directly with the unzipped files.
