Designer Summary layer - Percentages incorrect.

Hello all,

I have created a report in designer and the customer also requires a summary of each column, so I have added a summary layer to my report which Sums all the columns.

My problem is that it Sum's the percentages as well which gives me a total percentage of 1000% due to it adding each percentage together.

I have tried to resolve this in many ways including using AVG instead of Sum, recreating the summary with a full calculation instead of using the saved expression and used various functions such as stat. Nothing seems to help me get closer to the correct number.

Has anyone ever experienced this / found a solution?

To Work out the percentage, I have done '(Difference/Total)*100. It's a very simple calculation which customers expect to be possible. It seems the summary layer always wants to aggregate all the column values.

Are you using the Ratio expression type? Whenever you are doing division in an expression, the Ratio expression type will ensure that the total column is aggregated correctly.

Also, you don't need to use the Add --> Sum menu to add summaries. If you manually copy the boxes the measures (or expressions) are in from the Detail band to the Summary band (or a group footer band, if appropriate) they will be aggregated and then you have more control over look and feel, positioning, the calculation, etc.

Thanks for sharing. I don't actually have 'Ratio' available? I've never seen this before. Is this from a recent update?

It's just the default version of Designer. It's been there for years. Are on you an appliance?

How do i do this for visualizer? I have a per pound calculated measure. On the sub summary line, it is summing them all up, rather than taking the sum of the dollars / sum of the weights.
