Dashboard Jumping

Hi all,

i am creating a dashboard application which has 2 splits, a left hand pane dashboard that is a dynamic menu (collapsable), The other part of the dashboard I want to change to the report that is selected in the left hand pane. 

Is there a way to make the jump change only to the other section and leave the 'dashboard menu' on the left hand side?

Couple of considerations i have made at the moment:

• Produce a 'dashboard' per jump i want to make - this feasable - but also tedious as we may end up with 100's of report jumps
• add the 'menu' as a top side menu in the Application Studio menu - once again mainentnace 
• follow how the 'samples' does it with a drop down navigation

Hi Peter,

We are having an application with the same setup: a dashboard with a navigation widget and a report widget. You can achieve the desired behaviour with the following steps:

1. set up a ReportSelection global variable
2. add this variable a a report parameter to all reports in your report catalog, that you want to appear in the report widget, including the Navigation report
3. add a jump action to all those reports where the event is the change of the ReportSelection report parameter and the target report is the Report Selection global variable - don't add it to the Navigation report (you can also add report load action for other stuff is needed, they will both be executed)
4. add a set parameter action to the navigation widget to set the ReportSelection global variable to the unique name of the selected report.

Our navigation widget is based on a list on the navigation dimension where the element ID = unique name of each report.

The behaviour will be that every time you click a report in the navigaton menu, the report widget will jump to the required report.

If course, you will have to set some conditional formatting on the navigtion widget, so it indicates your selection. You can also use a home button to the close the navigation tree and jump back to a default landing report.
