Easiest way to call a dataflow the last day on the month

Hi,

I have a customer with a dataflow that used to run the xe rates and to impot them on daily basis .

Now I have a requirement to ditch the dailies and create two separate data flows that run once a month.

one data flow to call the last day of the month. and another data flow to call the first day of the month.

How do you schedule each dataflow to only run on these particular schedules ?

As I am a bigginer in ION I am only looking for the easiest solution for this, with examples please.

Hi Kamal,

There is no built-in scheduler for Data Flows.

As a workaround, I would consider the "IMS via API" connection point.

So if you can schedule API calls (first and last days of months) from somewhere else, then it is possible to start Data Flows "on Demand".

If your Data Flow is triggered by a File Connection Point, you can schedule your File Connection Point using a CRON expression. Thus, your CRON expression would trigger the File Connection Point only on the last day of the month.

Yes, this is an additional option.
One thing to mention is that it works not only for a File connection point, it may be an API connection point to call a "GET" method as well.

This sounds like a good option, I am making an API calls to get the XE rates so that could be a good choice. How would I use a CRON expression with an API call ? and examples on that I could follow/implement ?
