Jump actions with input failures should bring up an error message (Enhancement request - 111073)

Hi all,

We have a known issue since also v11 regarding jumps. As we just stumbled over it again in v12 (Release 2024.07), I created an Enhancement request for it and ask for your votes:

Enhancement request - 111073

If there is an input/option in an jump action bringing up an error, the jump is executed but not all calculations (incl. right formulas) are executed. These errors can occur, due to failures in formulas, missing permissions of the users, etc.

Problem: Some variables are not filled correctly without error message. This could lead to non-detected issues, e. g. interface looks great but figures refer to the wrong values in the background

Best practice to find out, which input/options is causing the issue, is to delete one by one and execute the jump and see if it works then.

Solution: Don't execute the jump or / and give an error message to detect the problematic input/options field. => Just something to see there is an issue and where it is exactly.

Please note that in the App Studio full client menu (I don't remember which) you can enable debug messages for actions which give you more feedback about what happened during the action execution. Maybe that would help you.

The fact that errors are normally not causing the action to abort is by design and unfortunately many existing report designs rely on that so its unlikely that we can change it.
