ION: Where to Start...

Hello,

I apologize for a rather 101 ask, but I'm having difficulty getting a grasp on starting some enhancements that utilize ION, and I wasn't sure if a more specific sub-forum was appropriate. However I don't understand the triggers and am not able to successfully interact with M3 through ION. I've followed a video on Infor's Youtube, Tutorials in the Development Portal, and have Spent a healthy amount of time in the documentation. That said, everything feels like it's missing context of how documents are set and sent to the ION interface and how to interact.

For an example, I followed a tutorial guide to set up a monitor based on the SalesOrder doc, to email me whenever a customer order TotalAmount > 0. when an order is created... nothing happens.... There's something I'm missing here...

Really, I'm just looking for direction of a good resource or information that enables more effective understanding of the platform if anyone is able to help

Hi Denis,

The setting to Send Email is checked, and an address is entered in the input field with the "inforcloudsuite.com" domain. Unsure if the specific email matters in this scenario or not.

Hi Eric,

Do you see an Alert in the Inbox when a monitor receives the SalesOrder?

You can check the status of the Monitor (if it was triggered) on the Active Monitor page.
Additionally, you can use OneView to see more information about the document flow. Can you check if ION received the SalesOrder?

Hi Danil,

There is no Alert that shows in the inbox, or Alarm that would be where I'd expect. Trying to answer these questions though I think is starting to show some potential areas for root cause.

There is no SalesOrder document name in OneView.

The Monitor I set up is not associate to a workflow (does it need to be...?)

The Active Monitors page does show the monitor active with the appropriate Activation Date, but no documents processed or Alerts Created.

Looking into the Triggers to the Active Monitor, I notice "Logging of triggers is now disabled." text on a blank page. Event Management engine in ION service is currently unchecked. ION Auditing also has no values checked

I am unsure if I need to look at the Enterprise Collaborator but that was a thought I just had typing this out.

Hi Eric,

To be able to "deliver" document(s) to ION you need to create a document flow.
Did you already do it?

Suggestion.. when you look at oneview, what is a BOD that you are seeing enter the system.

For your smoke test, could you add a Monitor to one of them?

Then look at the oneview message history for a recent message to see the Montor status, or look at Active Monitors .

If a monitor for Sales Order is active, then a document flow should not be needed. (99% sure). It likely is that you do not have a connection point defining that BOD. Is there an active connection point with that BOD (Sync.SalesOrder)

The ERP (ln/M3/Syteline/ landmark/... any producer) creates the BOD and sends it to the outbound message connection point. Most are Infor are using IMS but can be any connection type depending on the needs. This shoudl be visable in the logs of the producer, and if properly configured in ION Oneview

Hi Danil,

This makes a lot of sense and I have not set up a specific document flow for a connector that has this document.

It is the first time I seen that video and connects a lot of dots. Thinking back to it now it seems obvious that I'd need the document flow in the first place to get something to monitor. I'll have to test out some configurations when able but this looks promising.

Hi Kevin,

I am unsure on the necessity of needing a document flow. I've created a document flow that connects to M3 via IMS connector that has the SalesOrder document listed, but it's listed as send only rather than receive. So I may not have that configured properly.

Yours and others links are incredibly helpful though just in the sense of general learning and I'm seeing the puzzle pieces fall into place more clearly. So when I have time I have a few options to look into to get better with the ION toolset.
