Multiple Output Files

Is it possible to have a report/print session that generates more than one output file? For example, we need to develop a custom session that outputs multiple .csv files depending on the choices made in the session form. If this is possible, could you please advise on how it can be done?

could you not simply create separate Back ground tasks to call the reports when submitted from the form? you can set up separate task parms with each task you create.

In this case, we have a session with a range of orders and two flags. Each flag should generate a .csv file with its specific query function, and the output, when clicking on 'Print,' should provide two downloadable files.

You should research the functionality in CMS006 panel G (Related document types). We have used this functionality to merge a second PDF into the original PDF. You could conceivably set this up to trigger a 2nd CSV file.

Hello and thank you for the reply. I'm not sure this is an option in LN, I found documentation about it only in M3.

If the files are only CSV files it might be an option to not use LN Reports, but use the functions seq.open(), seq.puts(), etc. to create the files. Using separate file pointers you can create multiple output files.

Please refer to the Programmers Guide for full information. You can download this from KB2924522. The basic setup of the function is to create a new file or open an existing one through seq.open(). Example: fp = seq.open(" ${BSE}/tmp/example.csv","a+"). The variable fp is a long, which is the file pointer. Now you can add lines to the file by using seq.puts(). Example: seq.puts("order;line;text", fp). Every seq.puts() will add a new line. Once all lines have been added, close the file by using seq.close. Example: seq.close(fp). Hope this helps.
