Integrate LN to Microsoft Fabric with Infor OS

Hello,

I’m working on a project where we need to integrate LN to Microsoft Fabric with Infor OS, and I’m looking for some guidance or best practices.

Has anyone in the community successfully set up this integration? Specifically, I’m trying to achieve the following:

* Data flow and synchronization between Infor OS and Microsoft Fabric tables.
* Possibly leveraging any connectors, APIs, or tools to streamline the process.
* Best practices for managing security and data governance during this integration.

If you’ve done this or have any resources, tips, or documentation to share, I’d really appreciate the help!

As far as I'm aware at the moment you're limited to using API's...

... however in 2025 Infor should be releasing their native method for data to go into Data Lake and then onto MS SQL services (I can't remember the exact name of the product in Infor Data Lake, but it currently allows data to flow straight in Snowflake and one other service).

We run a convoluted method at the moment to get data from hosted SyteLine into a Maria DB and then in to Power BI, so once we can push data directly from Infor Data Lake to Microsoft One Lake we'll be doing it.

The product is Stream Pipelines. Currently for Snowflake and PostgreSQL. (And no, we don't have it in our tenants, but I've been following some posts about it. Just asked a question on the currently ongoing Infor presentation about the October release, and Stream Pipelines are an additional service - that is, it must be purchased separately.)

Depending on what is your destination technology in Azure you may find one or more of the available data extraction methods in Infor to fit your use case. For example, you could choose to:

Extract data objects (ndjson files) from Data Lake using Data Fabric Objects API. Use it to extract data 1:1 on a schedule and apply incremental extractions logic based on the object's Indexed Date timestamp.
Extract query result sets using Compass SQL API or Compass JDBC Driver. Use it to transform data with the SQL and apply incremental extractions logic with the infor.lastmodified() timestamp. API provides pagination capabilities allowing you to multi-thread the response. Result format can be in ndjson, csv and json format.
Use ION Data Lake Flows to schedule a push of data objects (files) or query results to one of the ION Connection Points
Use the ETL Client for Data Lake (on-prem installation or in VM) to transfer data on a schedule to a SQL Server.
Use Stream Pipelines for continuous real-time data transfer to Azure PostgreSQL (and in future to Azure SQL)

Use of some of these services include a service level subscription quantities as part of the Infor OS Tier license, for example the Compass Compute Time, Processing Capacity and Cloud Egress. In case exceeding the included quantities you may require you to acquire add-on resource capacity for those services.

ETL Client for Data Lake and Stream Pipelines are Additional Services and are not included in the Infor OS Tier license. So Enrico is correct, these need to be acquired separately, but they serve specific needs which are not always required by every customer. (Thank you for your question today Enrico).

Regarding security, in the October 2024.10 update we are releasing Data Fabric Data Security feature that will allow you to manage users data access permissions on an object-level or property-level. This will affect users usage of the Data Fabric services in context of the user accessing the Application or the APIs through a Service Account with a User.
