How to Export Purchase Information from LN ERP to a CSV File in a Shared Folder Using Outbound BODs?

Hello, I am struggling with this issue.

I have understood the concept of inbound. I have a vague understanding of how to create a CSV file as a BOD and map a custom BOD to the standard BOD to upload data into LN ERP as part of the inbound process.

However, what should I do for outbound? I need to send data from LN ERP to another company via a shared folder.

I tried reversing the document flow for inbound, but that didn't work. Does the document flow require a trigger to work, or is there a special method for outbound?

I looked at the related library here: https://docs.infor.com/ghrtm/2024.x/en-us/ghrtmntegrationlib/default.html?helpcontent=ixt1640028786768.html, but I still don’t understand. The BOD creation section in the ION connector is missing altogether.

Unless I don't understand your problem, but if the intention is to deposit the CSV file resulting from the transformation of your BOD in a file directory, the connection point at the end of your flow must be this destination, and a file template must have been created to ensure conversion

First of all, thank you very much for your answer.

Do you know the trigger conditions for the OUTBOUND document flow?
In the case of inbound, the document flow reads the file when it is placed in the shared folder. However, for outbound, where we want to extract data from the ERP to the document flow, I'm not sure what the trigger conditions are. Does the document flow activate when an action is taken or something is created in the ERP?

Wow... such a document exists... it's amazing.

But why doesn't LN have something like this?

Even though I'm a complete beginner and wouldn't fully understand it just by reading, the difference between having it and not having it is like night and day. Thank you!

Hi, if you need info about LN & BODs don't look into Infor HR documentation. At docs.infor.com there is LN and you can find Integration related documents there. When you reach BOM mapping documents, check BOD inboud mapping and BOD outbound mapping guides. In the document it says what triggers the BOD.

Regarding your question.. LN sends BODs on an action happened in system. For ItemMaster it can be just adding new and saving it in the session, for other documents it can be more complicated. Shipment for example has to be confirmed in LN, and only then it will publish the BOD (automatically). PurchaseOrder BOD is triggered when Purchase Order changes to status Approved or In process. And after that it will trigger each time it is changed and approved again. But.. Because for some documents that would just be to often, there is also Stagging functionality. It works like that: when Purchase order changes in LN and it is approved again, LN stores the reference to it into Stagging table. Later on even if this order is changed again, it will not add it again, probably it just changes the last change timestamp. In this case there should be a job that is processing "stagged BODs" in periodic intervals. Not the last thing to mention is that LN mostly sends Sync BODs, so what you can expect in ION Desk One view is Sync.PurchaseOrder and this is also the one that File Connection point has to be able to receive and put into folder. What LN can send and receive, can be seen in LN Connection Point in ION Desk, on Documents tab.

Thank you for the detailed explanation, Tilen.

However, due to my limited knowledge, I feel that I need to ask again despite your perfect explanation.

If I create a DocumentFlow with this flow:

Application (LN) -> Sync.Shipment -> Mapping (sourceBOD: Sync.Shipment / targetBOD: ???) -> File (connector write)

Then, when I perform the Shipment confirmation in LN, a file will be generated in the folder I specified, correct?

If so, the targetBOD will be the custom BOD I created, but what should be set for its action type (verb)?

It doesn't really matter. It could be SyncLNCustom, at least I would do it like this. And it can even work with no transformation, you can store whole Sync.Shipment to folder. If you want to have it in CSV, have in mind that Shipment or Purchase order is master/detail (or header/lines) kind of document, which is hard to handle in CSV which is more or less flat text. For custom BOD that ION will be able to export it in CSV, you will have flat single level od elements in XML.

To save the entire Sync.Shipment to a folder, do I just need to remove the mapping and configure only the application and file elements?
