How to fetch the total value from the list

Hi,

I have defined an Amount field on a list along with allow update & total. So here I am getting total amount for n number of lines.  here this total fetch the summation of all lines. Now I need that total value of amount to be used elsewhere. Any idea on how this can be achieved?
