How to make and design reports in LN-Cloud?

Hello Everyone,

Recently I started my fist Developments in the LN-Cloud, but when i came to reports, i encountered some problems.
I can't modify the Layouts in LN-Studio. When i try to open all/ a specific layout, i get an error message:
"'external editor 'Report Layout Editor' (txxxx999)' has encountered a problem. Action is not allowed in a cloud development environment"

So I checked if there is any documentation on how to modify the Report Layouts now in the LN-Cloud, but i was not able to find any documentation.

Then i found out, that there is also the so called "Report Designer". But this works on personalization Level and when i want to rollout a report to everyone, i need to copy it to the level of all companies or a role. I then also need to export this which is generating an extra component and importing it again on the target environment.

My question is now, is there any way to modify the layouts directly in the LN-Cloud and if not, what is the way, to modify and design reports in the LN-Cloud now?
Because i think, the report personalization can not be the regular way of report developments and there must be any better way for report developments.

Hi Sebastian,

I came across this limitation last year and documented my findings in the following post:

I totally agree, there should be a better way, but I checked with Infor support & development and reports in LN CE need to be developed with the report designer.

There are now extra steps & work having to export/import the report designer personalizations, and then needing to copy them to the different company or role levels, and keeping track of this.

The report designer itself seems to be a very well designed & capable tool, but I still wish that we could develop reports as regular LN components.
