Any way to automate adding partners to CRS885 (table CPARTN) ?

Hi,

We are looking for a way to automate adding partners to CRS885 (table CPARTN) because adding hundreds of records manually via the M3 UI is not feasible.

There is an API for managing partner aliases (CRS886MI) but not for managing partners which is a baffling oversight on the part of Infor.

Is there a way to automate the process of adding partners? If CRS885 can do it then there's got to be a way to do it programmatically, right?

Hi Tim,
Since there is no standard API, you could look into the IPS (Business Engine Interactive Program Services) in M3 Administration Tools. The IPS service once created will provide a API you can call.

CRS885 has an A panel which usually makes it possible to create entries through an IPS. I have not done it for CRS885 so I can't say for sure if possible for this program but its worth a try.

Another approach is to create the API as a custom MI through XtendM3, I am however unsure if the XtendM3 team will allow you to get it approved. So you'll probably need to get some kind of pre-approval before working on it.

Thanks Jonas! I started looking into the IPS service option yesterday but I am not seeing the + icon as an available "button" on panel A, so I am not sure how the adding is supposed to work.

I always assumed that the H5 front end used MI APIs to accomplish a program's functionality. But since there is no CRS885MI then I wonder what non-public APIs the H5 script in CRS885 calls to manage partners.

The UI Programs does not use the MI's that you can call.

Its a bit tricky to work with the IPS since its very old.
If you create your service and pick CRS885 as program, and then you need to add Panel A with function keys ENTER & ENTER and then after that Panel E also with ENTER & ENTER.

For input :

It makes sense if you open CRS885 with setting Opening Panel to A and then mirror what you would have filled in in the M3 UI with what you are adding the the IPS Service (not sure if that makes sense).

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

After reading up on IPS and seeing some other examples I ended up building one this morning and it's now working perfectly via the /M3/ips/service API call.
