How to RELATE multiple SOURCES in BIRST ?

Dear Group,

Requesting your help here to resolve my Birst issues.

I have imported below two sources and created an Inner Join i.e. [icsd.cono]=[sastaz.cono] AND [icsd.whse]=[sastaz.secondarykey]

But when I try to display the ICSD data in the Visualizer, I get below error message.

But another Source SASTAZ attribute gets displayed just fine in the Visualizer, shown below…!!!

Please suggest if I did any mistake while importing these Sources or did I not JOIN them properly?

Please let me know if you need any other information and feel free to share some resources which covers such Birst basics.

Hi,

I suggest to check the report query that gives error in Query admin, run there as well, download the log and check the last entries, they can show some useful information.

Usually the linking field is not measure, so when wants to link an attribute source with a measurement source from another source, the linkable field is not part of the key of the measurement source. So field is missing error can occur.

I am not running any query and I am not making any join in the visualizer as of now. I simply went to Visualizer and tried displaying just one attribute in a table form and there I get this error: Data is unavailable to satisfy a query. Please contact your administrator.

I am not getting the ICSD Source data itself in the Visualizer.

Are these columns truly the relationship columns for these two sources? If you can display only ICSD in Visualizer, then the join columns are incorrect.

In the screenshot, all the columns are defined as both a hierarchy and a measure. Best practice and an ideal dimensional model, a majority of the attributes are defined in a hierarchy, and others are specified as a measure. If you are new to the Birst Platform and whether or not you are familiar with dimensional modeling, then I suggest you search Infor U for Birst Foundation for Admin.
