Using Scripts in ION Workflow

I am trying to use a script step while creating a ION workflow. In order to do that I first created a script under Scripting section. This scripts has few input and output fields and I have configured it and tested the script too and it works fine. But when I connect the script in the script steps and connect the input parameters of script to input parameters in the workflow and try to execute the workflow, I get a java runtime error "java.lang.RuntimeException" for the script step.

Can someone help me with this?

Or even if I can be lead to any documentation or video that shows the implementation, it would be very helpful.

Hi Kaz,

Thank you so much for the scripting tutorial videos. It is very useful.

But what I am looking for is the usage of the script in the script step of workflow.

Especially how the mapping of workflow parameter values can be sent to Script and how it gets executed from within the workflow.

do you have the input and output mappings setup ?
What are the data types ? See link in docs online for data type mapping.
If you can share a little more specific about what your doing and what is failing, we can review.

yes, If you can review the documentation @kevinheiman mentioned please, and also to add below is an example working workflow… CSI10 (datalake-json-csv) → SCRIPT (convert csv to just have 3 columns) → CSI10 (invoked method call)

Middle box is the script that receives from csi10 and sends it back to csi10 via method call

csi_ue_replicate is from csi10 datalake replication rules - json file

Script (V3_ue_Replicate) - Document Mapping (json to output as asOneJson that will later be used in API Call. 2nd pic is data catalog)

script - Input document (please disregard the 2 and 3 as I only used the input_var_1)

how the scripts looks like when i test it..

and in the third box api call connection point, I just passed the asonejson (this contains the output_var_1 from the script)
