How is the job order number created from the Material Planner Workbench form

Trying to determine how the job order number is created from the Material Planner Workbench form. Creates a Firm Job Order which appears to be a sequential number. Where does it come form? Click generate orders button which brings up the Material Planner Workbench Firm Job form. No Job Prefix specified and select Copy Current BOM. Looks like it comes from @RefNum in dbo.FirmJobSp but tracing backward I can't see where that @RefNum is coming from.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Those Job numbers auto numbered based on the NextKeys Table. So if you are create 5 jobs with no prefix, the system is going to find the next key entry for the job.job table with a Null prefix and then use the last value to determine the next 5 job numbers. Since you don't have a prefix Syteline automatically expanding to 10 digits using spaces. If you had a prefix then it would auto expand with zeros.

You can use the Synchronize Next Keys to view this information in Syteline, or query the NextKeys table in the database.

Hello,

The Job Order Number is not specifically tied to the Material Planner Workbench form. The firm job form allows the user to specify a prefix for the job number. A default prefix can be specified in the Shop Floor Control Parameters form.

As for the job number, it will auto numbers to the next available sequence based on the prefix, similar to Customer Orders and Purchase Orders. The code where this happens is in the insert trigger (job_mstInsert) on the job_mst table. In the trigger they determine the new job number and insert it into a table using the InsertNewKeySp.

It's not tied directly to the Material Planner Workbench but that's part of the process.

We start with he Material Planer Workbench Generation form.

Click the process button. Ge the number of receipts processed. Message depends on the selections made on the Material Planner Workbench Generation form.

Then on the same Material Planner Workbench Generation form we Click the Material Planner button

Opens the Material Planner Workbench form then select:

View: Job

Filter for Today or this weeks orders.

Click Generate Orders button, opens the Material Planner Workbench Firm Job form.

Specify no Job Prefix:

Leave Copy Current Bom selected.

Click OK.

It the Creates the Firm job Orders for those "receipts created in the message".

Those Job Orders that are created have a sequential 5 digit number with 5 leading spaces. This what I am looking for where is that sequential number coming from?
