Has anyone tried to connect an EDA application to Active Directory?

We have an app that manages various sets of master data (for example Supplier data). As part of the process we need to identify people in our company that are not users of M3. Currently we are just storing their names in a text field, but it would be great if we could connect to Active Directory to validate the user and bring back their name/email/etc.

Anyone had any experience with this? Any ideas?

We created a job to create a csv extract of our LDAP data on our reporting server daily. This file is picked up and moved to our EC server through task scheduler, where an ION dataflow picks up the file and loads the associated fields into M3 as custom fields behind CMNUSR, set up in CMS080, which appear in the CUGEX1 table.

We don't currently bring them into an experience designer app, but just show them on the MNS150/B and E panels, but you would be able to pull the fields into an app with the appropriate list apis if you went a similar route.
