We currently process Age 26 dependent terminations manually within our benefits system. Our workflow includes running a monthly report to identify dependents who will age out, reviewing their existing coverages, and then manually entering a stop date for each applicable benefit. After that, we add a new coverage row with any required option changes and reattach eligible dependents. Once these updates are complete, we manually generate the COBRA Offer for each dependent who has aged out.
Our organization has approximately 10,000 covered lives. For employers with populations larger than ours, I am interested in learning what processes you use to manage Age 26 terminations. Do you also rely on manual processing, or have you implemented automation or alternative solutions to streamline this workflow?
Thank you in advance for any insights or recommendations that could help us improve our process.
