Serialized product can't be posted in a cycle count

Question

We have an issue where serialized product that is not in inventory (shows as out of inventory / previously shipped) cannot be added in a cycle count when it is found.  We created a location for that item/stockroom/location (if it didn't already exist) and were able to scan the product into that location.  However, when we tried to post the cycle count, the exception message says "serial number for ____ and serial number does not exist".  We cannot post this.

Does anyone have a solution for this?  Infor Syteline, BTW.

I've experienced No LOCATION issues a few years back, after an upgrade. Serialized parts issued without a LOCATION, then when returned, required a location even though the original transaction didn't have a location. I didn't dive deeply into it and I didn't want to attempt to reconcile the LOT table (as if). The business decided to add an additional letter to the serialized part and received them back with a LOCATION, resulting in a new lot entry.  The "legacy" serialized part issue was addressed and all parts going forward were set up with a "primary" location, no blank location.  Since then, they have not experienced any issues.

Although I'm using a different product, I have experienced LOT related issues, especially when the original serialized part (lot) didn't have a specific LOCATION.  If you still have the issue, you may want to try it without a location, if this issue still exists.  If that works, then transfer it to the new location.
