How to make a new Document Type and get it context-linked + auto-filing into IDM (from Syteline)

Hello. This has been stupidly difficult for me for some reason, even with other doc types easily available to look at. I need to get some shipping documents that generate out of Syteline to flow into IDM automatically. I've made a document type for one of them as a test, and even hooked up the IDM task to the piece in Syteline, but posting it into IDM fails every single time.

Is there a tutorial that anyone has created on this? I've read through a bazillion pieces of Infor documentation but they're usually focused on some other part of IDM or doing that "to draw a horse, draw the horse" thing where the actual crucial piece of information I need is assumed to already be known to me.

Hi Emma :)

Presumably you are trying to get documents to show up in the "Related Information" widget, right?

First take a look at the "Context Viewer" - if it isn't there already add it as a widget to your "insight group".

When you look at a record in your application you should see a json message in the "Context Viewer": the data in the json is from the page you are viewing and provides the "Context" for the Related Information to pull documents. The structure and data here is what the IDM Business Context model(s) must use to reference documents. I attached a sample in context json (saved with .txt)

Now (the fun part), go to IDM "Control Center | Administration | Configuration | Business Context Model" and create a model that matches what you want to show in the related information widget.

The entity, product, and screen values are from the in context message, select your document type and create query to reference those values for the search: (e.g.)

/FSM_Vendor[@VendorGroup = "{id1}" AND @Vendor = "{id2}"]

NOTE: In the above, /FSM_Vendor is the docType and the @VendorGroup and @Vendor elements are docType attributes and the values (in double quotes and curly brackets) are from the in context message

with that done you can go to your app - select/open your object (in the example a vendor) drop a relevant document (or irrelevant in this case) onto the Related Information widget

confirm the details and upload it:

and it will be stored in IDM for future retrieval by anyone looking at that record with permissions for that docType.
