Usage of workflow parameter data type 'User' and 'DistributionGroup'

Has anyone had first-hand experience with using either 'User' or 'DistributionGroup' as a workflow parameter type? I am struggling to find information about either of these options - they are available in ION v11.x (not sure if they carried forward to XiP v12.0.x as I saw KB1856930 mention this as a bug for XiP).

My intention is to do something similar to what is mentioned in KB1461661 - I'd like the 'Requestor' (person initiating the workflow) to receive a notification at the beginning of the workflow to confirm the workflow has been initiated and then another notification when the workflow completes.

The part that I'm stuck on at the moment is selecting "users from group". Any ideas where the group information is supposed to pull from? I had thought IFS (aka User Management). For me I'm not seeing any indication of the search table functioning. I see similar results when using the 'DistributionGroup' type as well.

Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions? Perhaps a workaround solution that you have found? I may need to submit a help ticket with Infor Xtreme to figure this one out. Thought I'd bounce this off of the community first though. Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts!

You could give the distribution group name in the search text and search. Then what would happen is at the time of task execution, the user will be prompted to select users from that group.

There is an existing enhancement request, 14328, asking for the ID of the originator of the workflow to be made available as a system parameter. If any customers need this feature please log into the Enhancement Request system and vote for the enhancement. I think it would be a helpful feature.

Hi Sarada, yes, those were my thoughts too. The trouble I'm encountering is that the search box is not working (or it doesn't appear to be). It looks like there was intended functionality and it just isn't working. I'll see what the support team thinks. Thank you for weighing in.

That would be great to see a recording of it Sarada - may be helpful to others as well. Thank you for confirming it works in 12.0.8! I did open a ticket to see if we can pinpoint what is happening in v11.1.21.

In 11.1.x the DistributionGroup parameter is defined via IFS > Manage > MasterData > Distribution Groups. The IFS Admin Guide includes more information on the subject. I also found parameter documentation in the ION Desk User Guide that helps provide understanding (ie Distribution Group = A string containing an IFS distribution group; User = A string containing the personid of an IFS user).
