ION Sales Order Import Performance

Recently we began testing using ION for importing sales orders into CloudSuite distribution. What we have been finding is the import performance is not fast enough to meet our business requirements. For example, a test import of 500 Sales Orders took 3.5 hours to complete. Import performance improves marginally when directing ION to read from a SQL database instead of the a sFTP source. However this difference is not enough to steer us one way or the other and leaves us searching for another solution to test to increase performance.

Does anybody have experience with ION performance with larger data sets or a recommendation on another approach?

Hey Erick,

Could you share what version of ION you're using and whether it's OnPrem or in the Cloud? Given it's CSD, I presume Cloud, correct?

SalesOrder BODs tend to be the largest and most complex BODs but even 500 documents over the course of 3.5 hours seems suspiciously long. We have customers sending and receiving up to several hundred messages per second.

Hello Mike, that is correct it is ION 12.0.22 Cloud Edition. As you mentioned the BODs for Sales Orders will vary but some can be large.

Hello Mike,

From the description of the problem looks like the receiving application is taking time to process the incoming BODs.

Can you verity the Active Connection Points to see if you have a lot of received unprocessed messages in the target applications connection point. if so, it indicates that ION delivered the BOD, but the processing by the application is slow.

Hello Erik,

the document flow is using the sFTP connector to fetch files from a site and then send it to CSD. In order to confirm where the issue could be, can you please check the following....Take one document and search for it in oneview, in the timeline view

1) click on file connector icon and check for the event 'Message entered ION'.

2) click on the Sxe icon and check for the event 'Message consumed by any connector or engine'.

Can you compare the times and observe the difference.
