Map input document to API request - ION API Gateway

What is significance of 'Map input document to API request' in ION API Gateway. Is this similar to the inline XSLT provided in web service connection point in on-prem web service connector?

Hi Ravi,

If there is a schema described by the API, you can describe the relationship between the schema and the Request Body using XPath or JSONPath for element mapping.

Both you and Mike are correct.

"Map input document to API request" indeed acts like the Advanced transformation in the WS connector. It lets you construct your own request to the API (usually based on the Example request structure that can be used for a jump start).

If you don't use this option, then the incoming document will be passed to the API as is.. We have some options here.. Either the whole BOD can go as is, or just the noun part of the BOD can go as an XML or the BOD can be converted as a JSON and be posted etc., The details are in the documentation.
