Combining/consolidating BODs

Is it possible to have ION consolidate multiple BOD documents into one? Say I have 1000 item BODs coming in as individual files. I would like to have them come in as one or just a few files.

Some tips on how this can be managed at source:

1. There are new standards and options defined in the platform for the source system to combine messages as much as possible in one message. This is particularly valid when an ERP is replicating its data into the new Data lake. In this case, they would typically use JSON messages which are as much as possible bundled into one message. The 'POST MultiPartMessage' API of IMS supports taking in such a file as input.

2. If the source system is based on a delimited/ fixed length file format template, you would also have the option to convert all the records on the source file into one single BOD XML.



Letting ION collect messages and aggregate them into one file itself is a feature we can consider in the roadmap. But then, the typical use case would be to join segments of same record that is so huge that it was sent as multiple batches from the source. Combining may independent Item Masters into one file may solve a practical need to receive less files. But from a business point of view, this gets difficult to track - i.e., you will not have manifest info of how many records made in each batch and what are the Document IDs of individual Items in each lot etc.,
