PPS: Has anyone developed an Auto-Pick Confirmation process?

The only time we care about the Pick Confirmation is when we need to enter in serial numbers.  Otherwise we simply confirm.

I want a box to pop up after generating the pick list:  Auto-Confirm? Yes/No.  If yes, it automatically confirms the pick list. If no, it goes to the Pick Confirmation form.

We can't be the only company who finds the standard PPS process cumbersome...

I'd appreciate any information I can get before I start the Functional Spec process.  Thank you.

What you are asking for certainly can be done and has been done by many companies.



First thing you will want to do is make a copy of the Pick Workbench form to make your changes on, so that you can retain standard functionality on a vendor default form.



On the new Pick Workbench form, you'll want to add columns to the grid for the LotTracked and SerialTracked IDO properties. Any line lot tracked or serial tracked will need to go through the manual Pick Confirmation process.



After the GeneratePickListSp Method Call form event handler, you will want to add a new form event handler that calls a new form script method. This new method would loop through the SLTmpPickLists collection and 1) if the order line is not LotTracked or SerialTracked, call an invoke method for the pick confirmation (PickConfirmationSp) and 2) does nothing if LotTracked or SerialTracked is checked. This allows the normal processing to continue.



I would allow the Pick List to still print in either case, so you have a paper trail.



After the generate process completes, you'll have your paperwork, and for the lines that qualified, they will already have been picked confirmed.
