Using .NET IDM project Example

Have anyone try to use the IDM .NET example that came with Infor OS ? Or was able to register the Infor.DocumentManagement.ICP.dll in order to use in .NET developement ?

When try to register Infor.DocumentManagement.ICP.dll with REGSVR32 I have error, "This DLL is not compatible with your version of windows" I have Windows 10.

Someone gote the same problem ?

Hi Renato,

I am using Infor OS 12.0.30 (The Infor.DocumentManagement.ICP.dll delivered is version 12.0.28)
I use Visual Studio 2019 on windows 8.1 Workstation.

I added the reference and got no errors.

Can you please share with us the Infor OS Version , Visual Studio Version, dll Version?

We have the Infor OS 12.0.28.65 version, Visual Studio 2017 on a Windows 10.

I will create a VM with Windows 8.1 and test, but weird to be from windows.

Do you registry with REGSVR32 without problems ?

No I don't need to register. The dll normally is copied to the bin folder of the project.

If you still have problems tell me to check it.

There would be a .NET Framework difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, which is the likely source of your issue. Infor ties their dlls to a specific version of the framework available at the time of development.

Based on this source (blogs.technet.microsoft.com/.../) it looks like .NET Framework 4.5.1 was the version that was included with Windows 8.1, so you could change your project to compile to that version (and it will work with all versions of the framework > 4.5.1) and that should resolve your issue.

It's worth noting that it's really the server version that they are tying to, so at that time it was Windows Server 2012 R2. So keep that in mind when looking at .NET Framework versions to develop against going forward, because they do split after the initial release of Windows 10 and Windows 2016.

Also the Mongoose IDO Development Guide should be the source you first check with, because it usually lists which .NET Framework they used for each major version release. It is typically mentioned in the section on IDO Extension Classes.

I try import to VS with Framework 3.5, 4.5, 4.5.1, 4.5.2, e 4.6.2 and the problem is the same.

I will open a ticket at Infor, don't know if problem is with the DLL.

I still not test in Windows 8.1 yet.

Hi Renato,

The dlls can only be related to .Net Framework and not to Windows OS. The example project delivered by Infor is based on .Net Framework 3.5. The Infor.DocumentManagement.ICP.dll is compiled with .NET v2.0.50727.

I have tried to compile the example project with .Net 4.7.2 on Windows 10 Build 18362 & Visual Studio 2019 (16.5) and still works. (Didn't try to run the code, just compilation)

I think something else is happening. I will send you a personal message with my e-mail so you can send me the dll and example project to check on my infrastructure.

Hi Renato,

I've encountered the same issue as you did, the compatibility is not yet at the level we'd all like to see :-)

And that's why i've created my own functions in .NET Core, that was a matter of reverse engineering with the Mango Client connected and sniff what api's are hit with Fiddler or wireshark..

Hi,

From our comunnication with Renato we found out the problem.

I believe that the dll delivered in Infor OS 12.0.28.65 is defect or using managed code. (Also checked it on a customer).

The Api dlls delivered on Infor OS 12.0.30 are valid.

I would suggest that Infor should deliver the dll in download center Patches for 12.0.28.

Another solution is to upgrade to 12.0.30
