Creating OAuth for the ... Failed

Trying to install InforOS 12.0.32 on Windows 2016... Got to the part of the install where it goes to create OAuth keys for the various InforOS services and getting a "Creating OAuth for the ... Failed" message for each one. Any ideas on what I missed or might have incorrectly configured? InforXtreme, as usual, was unhelpful - no entries at all for an "OAuth" keyword.

When I was trained on IOS installation by one of the ICS guys, he was insistent that we enabled "8dot3 name creation" on the target drive. This isn't documented but he reckoned it fixed most installer issues. My experience since is that the only installer issues I've had are with self-signed certificates. Extract from my notes from the training session above.

Hi Tim,

Is this a fresh installation of Infor OS or are you updating versions (ie 12.0.30 to 12.0.32)? I've seen a few different error messages similar to what you're receiving during my attempts to update from 12.0.30 to 12.0.32. Some errors stop the update, other errors you can click OK and continue on. I have an open ticket for the messages I've been encountering. The ticket has been escalated to the Development team. You'll probably want to open a ticket with the support team.

Maybe I can add some thoughts to get you started though. Give you some options to take a look at.

Here is a list of some log files you can look at and MIGHT glean additional information from:

1) Check the installation file path for a SUCCESS and/or FAILURE log. One or both will be there and simply list was succeeded vs failed in the installation (you won't gain much from these log files). File path will be something similar to C:Program FilesInforOS. This same location will have a CustomUtils_log file that could also be reviewed. (I'd save that for after step 2 below.)

2) The full installation log file can be found under C:ProgramDataInforOSInstaller. Review the newest log file as there may be multiples if you've made more than a single attempt to install. Use keywords to search such as "warn", "fail", and "err".

3) Sometimes Event Viewer on the Windows server for Infor OS or the AD FS server can help you deduce Infor OS messages.

4) If you are able to access Grid, there's a Grid Report that can be ran too. Infor Support may request this at times too in order to help resolve issues. Login to Grid > Monitoring > Status Report. Adjust the date range if needed. Then click Generate and your report will be available shortly.

Good luck! It'll be interesting to hear how you end up resolving the error.

No, fresh install on a brand new VMWare guest image. I have a ticket open with Infor IPN for install assistance. Also get errors when it goes to write files to the IIS directories. The error message lists a mangled file path "[null]ystem..." so something is wrong with the installer.

Aaaaah! Dang that is pulling on the cobwebs of the good-ole DOS days. I will have to rebuild my VM image to split the O/S and InforOS drives and set the 8.3 name creation attribute on the InforOS drive. Yeah, there is a lot of undocumented stuff that goes on with Infor installs. It's only after you get through to a 3rd level support guy that you get the "Oh you didn't know that? Yeah, you have to do X advice". Let me get that setup and try again. If it works, I'll come back and mark your reply as the answer. Thanks a bunch!

So I have other ADFS issues apparently (503 error trying to access idp) but this helped me get through the install. Thank you very much!

Glad that helped. BTW the note on separating Windows OS and Infor OS is more for customer installs and meant to split the disk IO load across different spindles and stops the Windows partition from getting swamped with IDM documents and Mingle ephemera. Your Idp issue sounds like a certificate issue.
