I am getting a permissions error when I launch Excel that states.
Permission denied in writing to Sytelinestrings.xml?
The add in works and functions but the error is occuring everytime we launch Excel.
Hi,
I copied the following from Infor Xtreme regarding Sytelinestrings.xml issue:
First, try launching Excel As Administrator as this will often set the permissions properly.
If that does not resolve the error, you will need to explicitly add the user currently logged into the workstation, read/write access to the path listed in the error message. Making them part of a group that has permissions is not enough. They must be added separately with Full Control.
Note, if set permissions at a level Higher than the ...Financial Reporting Tool Excel Add-In folder, be sure to click on the Advanced tab and allow child objects to inherit permissions.
Once you have updated the permissions, close and reopen Excel.
To set the permissions, you must be an administrator on the machine. If you are not, or you find you do not have access to the permissions (as outlined below), then please contact your IT Administrator for assistance. If you are not certain as to how to set the permissions, please do the following:
Locate that folder (follow the path to the last folder shown in the path in the error message), then right-click on it and select ‘Properties’.
Select the ‘Security’ tab, then the ‘Edit’ button.
Select ‘Add’ button next.
Click the ‘Locations’ button, and verify first that the location is correct (e.g., if logged in as a domain user, then make sure the name of the domain is selected; if logged in as a local machine user, then make sure the name of the machine is selected – which is at the top of the list).
Then select ‘OK’.
After returning to the previous form, in the textbox under the text ‘Enter the object names to select’, type the workstation login name (your userid you use to log onto the workstation).
Then select ‘Check Names’ to verify.
Once done, select ‘OK’.
Then, back at the permissions form, your userid should be selected.
Enable the option 'Full Control', and select ‘OK’.
You may need to select ‘OK’ again to close the window.
