Converting SQLBASE to MSSQL - USER Passwords
Legacy Contributor
I am in the process of writing a program to convert our SQLBASE database to MSSQL and one of the lingering questions I have not addressed yet is how to convert the user databse, and current passwords to the MSSQL. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this, as for the passwords are encrypted. I wonder if anyone has done this? We don't have a large quantity of users so it wouldn't be trouble to recreate all of them since the permissions and menus appear to have copied.
Anyone ever done this?

We just went through this conversion this weekend. I had to reenter the user names and passwords for each user. You are correct, their permissions do come over, however there were a few changes that Visual made that needed some attention after adding the user. I collected all the current passwords and had trouble with a few of them. I found out that the passwords could not start with a number and it appears they must be at least 6 characters long. Hope this helps?
