OS server took too long to respond - New installation

Hi,

We have done a new OS 12.37 installation and everything is working fine on the server.

The problem is that on users desktops, not all of the OS application are reachable.

Users can logon and access to MINGLE and INFOR ION API. But not to HOMEPAGES nor to APP BUILDER. They gets "os.server.com took too long to respond".

I wonder if this is due to an IIS parameter or to a OS GRID one.

I tested some parameters on IIS but with no success till now. And at another hand there are many variables in OS GRID : some are globals and others are applications related.

Do you have an idea about the subject please ?

We found the solution.
They were configuration issues in the domain firewall. IT was allowing some OS applications and blocking others.

Hi,

Ming.le runs on IIS but Homepages runs on ION Grid, "OS GRID" since a lot of Infor OS applications are running there. As for App Builder I'm unsure as it used to be in the inforos server, but now I think that it is in Mongoose. But I do know a lot about Homepages so let's focus on that. Have you checked the browser console, what request is returning HTTP504?

The way it works is that you sign in to Ming.le through IFS and then when you star the Homepages application in Ming.le there is a request to the Infor Grid which has a bunch of InforOS applications. First here is a redirect to ADFS/IFS to complete the logon for all those applications that are running in the IFS grid. It could actually be that these is a configuration issue here and that the session cannot be verified and thus the issue is in that configuration. That is part of the SAML Session Provider set up in the grid.

I would:

1. Check with the browser tools and check the console and the network tab to know in more details where the call chain stops. Is it when redirecting do ADFS? Is it after the reply from ADFS? Is it when being redirected back to /lime (Homepages)?

2. Check the Infor Grid Admin UI and check any errors or warnings, specifically in the SAML Session Provider, but also for for example the Homepages node. My guess however is that the user is not authenticated so there is never a call to the application. If there is a call to the application and there is still a timeout there would definitely be a a log here with more information.

I agree with Karin, especially regarding point 1. Assuming it is possible to open the application successfully outside of Ming.le, The browser developer tools are the best place to begin troubleshooting. It could be that content security policy is set in the hosted application which prevents it being shown in an iFrame in Ming.le.

There are many other reasons for things not to work so post what you find here and we'll see if we can zero in on it.
