Opera system error on logon using RDS

Has anyone come across the below error

Opera is installed on an RDS server – there are only 3 users who use it so they just log on to that server and use it as if its local

They keep seeing this error upon logging on to OPERA via RDS. it happens sporadically.

The error disappears once the server has been rebooted.

Any ideas.........

WinDIP probably means it's to do with the Pegasus Document Management components. Do they use PDM? If not, take the PDM client off if installed.

if you uninstall doc manager client & reinstall, it will fix it. We have this on a site where every now & then it crops up on WORKSTATIONS, not RDP. We tried to get Civica dialled on through Pegasus but the wait time was days & at that point it was quicker to fix it. So we/Pegasus never got a solution to it I afraid. May be worth mentioning it, as it seemed we were the only partner that experienced it! Cheers

We have for many years been aware that some of our customers have used Terminal Services (Microsoft Remote Desktop Services) for the implementation of Pegasus products. However, please be aware that Pegasus do not test the product suite in a Terminal Services environment, but we do acknowledge that the software will likely operate as expected and without problem under such an environment

Pegasus do not accept responsibility for software not operating as expected when using Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Services, if the software version is proven to be working as expected, on a standard supported Server/Client environment. Any such issues reported to our Support team will be referred to the partner on the grounds of it being a Terminal Server configuration issue.

You may wish to consider posting a thread onto the Infor communities to see if other partners have experienced and overcome such environmental issues and could offer assistance.

I found this information on another call which may be helpful.

"System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: External component has thrown an exception at system.drawing.SafeNativeMethods.GDIP .... at Windip.toolkit.loadicons()"

This would suggest there are issues with the gdip loading icons and could be a multitude of things:

- The customer may be using something that is interfering with Opera in the past it has been Antivirus (Avira, Trusteer etc)

- The customer has other software loaded causing this SEHException.

- We have gdip errors logged by the technical director from a Pegasus Partner who was using remote apps on Server 2016.

Are they using any such technologies?

Yes we have seen the default Terminal Services response. Yet theres a section in the XRL installation guide that advises you on how to install it on a Terminal Services/Citrix environment. If its not supported - why is it in there? The message youre getting ISNT anything to do with Terminal Services, so you can dismiss this,.

All AV exclusions are in place on this particular site, so it isnt AV either.

Never got to the bottom of it & you can uninstall & reinstall the Doc Man client within a minute, so naturally we couldnt leave the machine in this state for a few days as the users needed to get on.

In fact on page 8 of the OPERA installation guide, it says "Terminal Services Implementations should be installed on an independent server" - if it was not supported, why is this even mentioned?

We see this occasionally on one of our sites. I've found that restarting the SQL services normally resolves the issue.
