Bringing Cloud data into On-prem datawarehouse

Hello Everyone,

We have a need to bring in data from our Cloud applications (GHR, FSM) to our on-prem datawarehouse. What is the best way to handle this? What options do we have? This would be an operational data store so data will be refreshed on a daily schedule.

I cannot say that this is the best way to handle it but we are running replication sets on a nightly basis and we worked with Dashboard Gear to set up a process to load the data from those replication sets into an on premise database. We are using that for interfaces to HR vendors, tableau reporting, etc.

Same....we have found that Birst (by default) if you are on CloudSuite does not have the data needed to do our interfaces.

We also are attempting to do dbexports of the business classes needed to a .csv or .json and use ssis to push into an on-prem database.

From my experience, there's actually a couple of ways to do this. One is to take advantage of either the replication sets or the export database functionality, and then run SFTP/upload scripts from there. We actually do daily syncs with our on premise Axiom deployment via that method (we have a couple python scripts running as part of the SFTP to manipulate the data into the Axiom format as well). Two of our files also run through ION Desk first, and python script there to format the data.

Another option is to use the ION Desk enterprise connection option, if you are syncing with a SQL database. We are in the process of setting that up to sync to our on premise Tableau SQL server as well.

Thanks! Can you please tell me more about the second option? Does ION Desk EC directly update the SQL database without any coding involved? Is there a mapping tool to map the business classes to the on-prem SQL tables? How does that work? Is it an incremental or full update etc?

ION desk works out of the Infor data lake, so the mapping for the SQL setup is essentially done via replication sets. There's the pre-delivered replication sets, and then whatever custom replication sets you want to build and send to the data lake. As to whether to use incremental updates or full updates, we haven't decided yet which we will be shooting for. That's also controlled on the replication sets though.

We will essentially be setting up our on prem tables to match how the data lake tables are set up (see Compass tool within ION Desk - that'll give you a good idea on what the data lake tables look like). At this point, we are finalizing the installation of EC on an on prem server in our DMZ, which then will sync with our on prem SQL server. So our idea is to have ION EC push the data to our DMZ server, and then have that server either push it again or have the SQL server pull it from the DMZ server to get it where we want to go. Still working out those details.
