We want to use Fax Integrator to e-mail PO's to vendors. Our I.T. does not like it as the security is not up to their standards. How are others e-mailing PO's? We are V10 with our own onsite servers. Thanks in advance.
Recall that email, by itself is generally reliable, but is a unsecure method with no guaranteed delivery, no confirmation the correct recipient received it, nor indication that some interloper did not intercept or copy your message while passing through their email exchange.
Using Fax Integrator (out of the box) as an email PO delivery mechanism has many possible failure points. The biggest is that you don't know if or when it failed. Fax Integrator can update Lawson that it SENT the email message -- not that the recipient received/processed it.
There is no doubt that Fax Integrator should be re-written and should include better email capabilities. Fax is an "old" technology that many have said will be replaced. Yet it keeps on working and will for many years until a simple, reliable, point to point alternative is provided.
It is unfortunate that Fax Integrator has been deemed a "mature" product and is not being developed further. This is one area where it could shine.
There are other companies that offer encrypted email capabilities, MHC Software comes to mind.
We use MHC Doc Express to put on an overlay on the POs (add our logo, etc) and they pass it onto Right Fax - which is what the rest of the healthcare system uses.
