M3 Product Structure Alternate Material

We have thousands of items that can be potentially made from an average of 10 other items. 

We'd like to maintain alternate items on a product structure but it's too much work for a person to maintain manually.

Anyone ever load/remove alternate materials in batch mode like with a web service or API. I can't find a PDS013 or PDS003 method to add alternate material.

Neither PDS002 nor PDS013 have A panels, so web services (LWS/MWS/IPD) can be a little unreliable over these, but should be workable.

You'd need to build PDS001 -> PDS002 -> PDS013 in the web service.

If the same material and alternate is used again and again in many structures then consider using phantom items to minimise the maintenance of these.
