How to import excel data to Master Production Schedule

Hello,

I am trying to import a forecast into Visual. I have an excel data file. I understand I can convert it to txt file which I have done. However, everything I have tried is failing giving me an error message that "Part id must exist". Well, I verified every single part number in the file and they all do exist in Visual.

Is there a step I am missing in my conversion? Are there better instructions to do this?

We actually purchased a 3rd Party tool from our Infor partner Synergy Resources. It is called Contract Order and Forecast Import Tool. Spreadsheets received from our customers can be formatted to a layout created within this tool. It then allows us to upload to the Master Schedule.

Thanks Kurt. Our corporate advisor refuses to pay for any more software. He prefers to pay much more for the labor hours required to recreate everything, by a novice, that won't work anywhere near as effectively.

Hi,

We have an excel file for the master schedule. In the excel file, we put the forecast for the planning BOM, we change date in customer order and change the want date of the work order. A 3^rd party program it. The Excel file was already program before I was hire, and we debug it. I took many weeks but now it’s very stable and working well. It’s cost a lot of money. There is a lot of validation before we write the data in the database (date format, planning BOM exist, …).
