We recently had a customer request for Opera3 VFP, the nominal transfer reports be published to Excel which Pegasus have accepted as a potential candidate which if you agree could you please sign up to the KB to help push this through.

Hi, will sign up to it - just checking you know how to create these? Ive just created them & they output to excel fine.....you only need to do this once & its a global setting.

Hi James, sorry if being a bit green but what do you mean they output to excel? there is no option on the publisher to do this, are you using another tool to do this?

Hi Claire. the NL transfer files are not output to Excel as standard ie "out of the box", but if you come across any report like this, you can "make" them output to excel.

Basically find the two files (FRT & FRX) in the reports folder & copy them, then rename the copies to _XLS. In this example it will be sqnltfs_xls.FRT etc

then in Opera, go to Report layout & create 2 new ones.

1 - the standard one, call it sqnltfs & point it to nltfs.fr & name it Nominal transfer - Standard, tick the default tick box

2 - the Excel one, call it sqnltfs again, but this time point it to the _xls one

When you publish this, you should get a drop down menu & you can choose te excel verion

If you look at the Report Design Manual there is a whole section on how to create the report file too make sure the columns make sense.

Hi James, that is just fantastic! I believed that converting to XLS meant a whole load of faffing around in report designer! I just tried it and woah, it works - so thank you very very much I've learnt something new today :-)

Thanks Felicity, I'll be totally honest I did not realise there was a Report Design manual - in my 16 years of doing Pegasus i've never had a need to get too heavy into the Report Design as our customers pretty much accept the default report designs and invoices/credit notes designs are again fairly simple but if you could email me a copy that would be fantastic, my email address is claire.craig@xperience-group.com :-)
