VISUAL SHOPFLOOR AND ASSEMBLIES WITH LEGS

We have assemblies with auto-reporting legs so that we only have to book time once on the header card. The 'Reporting' operation carries no set or run time, all the time is included in the auto-reporting legs.

We have now decided to use Visual Shopfloor and we find that we can only see the auto-reporting legs in the schedule. In order to make the 'reporting' operation visible we have to put a run time in it. This would be bearable except that when we book time to the job we will end up booking the full time twice (once for the reporting operation and once for all the auto-reporting legs.

Does anyone have a solution for this or have I just wasted my money?

How are you closing the reporting operation? With backflush, if operation A (1 hr run), B (1 hr run), & C (1 hr run) are auto reporting resources and D is not, then closing D should backflush and close A,B, & C at the run time in those operations. The run time in D isn't relevant to the run times in the auto reporting ops prior to it so if you clock in and close D with 1 minute, that would be all the labor that would show for that operation and you would show 3 hrs and 1 min for that leg.

Hi Chris, thank you for once again reply to my cry for help. Unfortunately, the back flush does not seem to work on separate legs using Shopfloor. We have an assembly with legs and each leg has an auto-reporting operation called 'Valve Group'. The header card also has a 'Valve Group' operation but the last operation is 'Valve Reporting'. I have booked one minute on this reporting operation and the valve group below it has back-flushed. Unfortunately none of the legs have back-flushed. This setup works fine for manual booking within Visual. I wonder if this is a programming error/omission in the Shopfloor program.

Is it structured like this where sub 1 op 200 closes sub 1 op 100 and the legs attached? Just trying to visualize it.

Yes, that's exactly it. It works fine for normal labour ticket booking within Visual. However, if I book operation 200 in Shopfloor it only clears operation 100.

I'll take a look at this in the shop floor 10 version. As Chris indicated, if it processed differently in shop floor than in manual entry, shop floor (the API's more specifically) probably needs to be updated to include this business logic.

Hi Richard. I think the whole idea of auto-reporting and back-flushing has been forgotten in Shop Floor. I was surprised to see that an auto-reporting operation showed a scheduled list of jobs but even more surprised when it let me book time and quantities against an auto-reporting leg. Visual would not allow this. We have many hundreds of masters where the header card has a reporting operation with no time in it. Because there is no run time in the reporting operation, it does not show in the list of jobs in Shop Floor. So even if the back-flushing can be made to work, we will still have to put time in the reporting operation. It does look like this program is not going to work for us. If you want to connect to my PC I can demonstrate all the issues.
