Estimating without Part ID creation

Running Visual v6.5.4 for a few months.

Can we create quote structures without creating part ID's? We thought about creating one generic Part ID to use but then any related quotes would be written over with the next quote stucture.

We dont want to unnecessarily create part IDs for quotes that may not turn into orders. We were told there is a "switch" somewhere in app global maintenance, but cant seem to locate it.

If I understand your question correctly, you can create quote masters without using a Part ID. Just leave that field blank. You can use a UDF that is searchable, to record the Part ID if you want to.

I don't know of the switch you speak of.
