unknown
Has anyone started to use the document maintenance feature with the software? What are the drawbacks? What are best practices?

Yes, I tried to use it, but it does not work well for me.
When batch printing work order travellers, it will first print all the travellers, and then all the related documents. Then whoever printed all need to find out which document belongs to what traveller.
I tried to have the travellers print the related document reference right on the traveller, but cannot do this because it is not available, and we max out at one additional table.

We use the drag and drop feature of document management in customer order entry, customer maintenance, vendor maintenance, part maintenance etc.
Ex. We save customer POs as a pdf and attach it to the customer order, leaving us nothing to hard copy file!
Ex. anything specific to the customer gets saved as a pdf and attached to that customer id
Using the drag & drop, you do not have to mess with all the document management setup; however, it dumps everything into one folder location. Every Jan 1, I create a new yearly folder to hold all documents. It is crucial that all documents have unique names or the latest will overwrite earlier files with the same name. We've setup process specifiying this. If it's attached to a customer order, the pdf file name will begin with that customer order id. if t's attached to a vendor, the pdf file will start with the vendor id followed by brief desc.

If you print one work order traveller report at a time within MFG/ENG Window, select print associated documents, will it print those associated docs you have attached? And when you say attached, what is the method for attachment so I am clear how and what your process is?
