LBI - stop a scheduled report

We are trying to put expiration dates on some of our scheduled reports that we no longer need. Is there a trick to putting an Expiration Date on the Report Schedule? We are putting in a future Expiration date but receiving the message:
"The Effective Start Date cannot be before todays date. Please change Effective Start Date and save again." The Start Dates are old (for example: 2/15/2013).

The Effective Start Date has to be >= today's date so I usually just change that date to today's date when I have to change a scheduled job.
