XRL/Infor Query & Analysis and Office 2013

Hi All,
We have a client that has some new PC's and all have Office 2013 ( 32 bit ).
We are having a problem getting the ADD IN to appear in Excel.
I have went through all the additional notes from Pegasus and add on still not appearing.
At the moment in Excel under add on's I can see the COM add in.
The load behaviour is " loaded " and it is appearing as an ACTIVE ADD on , however the drop down menu for Infor is still not appearing.
I was wondering if any one else has come across this.
Pegasus are asking me to uninstall Office and XRL again and start again !!!
Not sure how this will resolve the issue as XRL has been removed a few times already and same issue occurs.
Version of XRL is 1.61 ( latest Version)
Any help at this stage would be much appreciative.

Hi Dermot,

Does it say "Load at Startup" in load behaviour or just loaded?

Was XRL installed as administrator or at least with the user having local admin rights? I've found the Infor Q & A add-in to be a right pain when installing without local admin rights.

Hi

When we have see this issue before it has been because XRL has been disabled. Within File Options of Excel click the drop down for 'Manage' on the 'Add-ins' page and then select 'Disabled Items'. We have then seen the XRL feature listed and clicked the Enable button, then ensured still ticked on the Coms list and it appears on the menu

You have to install XRL when logged in as the user who will be using XRL i.e. it's no good installing it when logged on to the PC as administrator because the add-in won't appear for the actual user. The user will have to have admin rights to install it (even if they're removed after installation) for the add-in to appear.

I had this exact problem on my laptop (Win 8.1 and Office 2013). You need to install both "Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office" and "Microsoft Office 2010 Primary Interop Assemblies". I know that they should not be relevant to Office 2013 but it will make XRL work!

This has been reported to Pegasus so they should have been able to advise you correctly.

Hi, not sure if this helps the main thread, but in relation to Sue Hunts post, we found that if you installed it as that user, you could see XRL. If you logged in as a different user, you couldnt. So on a terminal server, this would be quite troublesome. However if you browse to
C:Program Files (x86)InforQuery and Analysis.....and double click on "exceladdinremoveadd" for each user, it will appear.

So we added a shortcut on the desktop & asked each user to double click on this

Did anyone have any updates on this at all? We have this exact same issue again at one site on multiple computers where everything appears to be fine but the Infor menu tab just doesn't appear.

Excel 2010 32-bit with Windows 7 Pro and XRL v1.63.

Infor Query & Analysis COM add-in is listed under 'Active Applications Add-ins' in Excel.

If you go to 'Manage COM Add-ins' it is ticked and says load at startup.

VSTO 2005 and 2010 are installed.

Microsoft PIA is installed.

User has been given local admin rights and install performed under the local user account.

The only oddity so far is that when you use the "exceladdinremoveadd" it crashes Excel, even though Excel is not actually running. So when running this we get the 'Excel has stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution' box.

Also unable to see the Infor option under 'Customise Ribbon' in Excel.

We've pretty much worked through the update document provided by Pegasus and it's still not working so any new ideas appreciated.

XRL has become pretty much hit & miss to properly install. The only sure fire way to do this is to log onto the machine as the DOMAIN administrator & install this way. Clearly this is not what you want to be doing, remotely on a 10 user site. WE have expressed our concerns about this at length with Pegasus, as you can spend days trying to get it to appear. But nothing appears to be happening about this.

Have you tried the CASPOL routine? Usually fixes this problem.

We have our own 4 page document that includes the CASPOL command.....Ive only ever seen this work once out of about 100 times!!!!!

Yes we have tried Caspol.

Don't usually have much of a problem with XRL as long as the UAC is off and the user has local admin rights it usually works.

Customer has been using v1.47 and we have been upgrading them to v1.63. The only PC it has worked on is the Windows 10 PC with Excel 2016 (with a new LsDatabase).

We've had to revert the non-working computers back to v1.47 so at least they have something.

Hi everyone,

We managed to get this working at the site we were having trouble with.

As previously described XRL appeared to be installed correctly, the COM-add ticked but the menu item just wasn't appearing.

To make this work we had to add the XRL install folders (C:Program Files (x86)Infor and C:ProgramDataInfor Query & Analysis) as trusted locations within Excel. This is done under Excel Options > Trust Center > Trusted Locations.

We've never had to do this anywhere before and we've not had to do it on all computers at this particular site, although the computers we did not have to apply this fix to are running a newer version of Excel.

Not sure exactly why this is occurring but hopefully this information might help someone else!
