Old Documents in Document manager

Has anyone found a clean way to remove old document from Document manager?  we have a customer that has been adding 50 document a week for the last 7 years and the  the database is getting slow.  they would like to purge all document that are over  3 year old. There are to many to go into each account a delete the document  one by one. Which has been suggested.

we have asked about running SQL scripts on the database to delete stuff in the SQL PDM tables Pegasus reply was  this would make PDM unusable as there is a lot behind the scenes that relies on what we can see in the SQL tables (in short this is strongly not recommended by the PDM developers themselves).

SO if anyone know of utility's or tools that can help please let me know

I'd be interested to know the answer to this too as we also have a customer with a lot of PDM records and no way to delete them! I logged an enhancement with Pegasus for this - KB 1039327 - to add a facility to set the number of years you wish to keep documents with the idea that some sort of reorganise process can clear them down once they reach this point.
