Pegasus Opera Report Design Issues

Hi All,

Has anyone else noticed an increase in issues around designs in Opera 3 happening lately.

In the past month of so , i am getting more and more site where one part of the design ( either .frx or .frt ) are being deleted on various Servers.

I know this used to happen ever so often but lately i am seeing it allot more and i was wondering if anyone else is seeing this as well.

Hi Dermot

There was a spate of this some years back and if I remember it was almost always because of AV software. Make sure they have .FRX and .FRT extensions excluded from on-access antivirus checking.

I have one site in particular (50 users/11 companies) where this is a problem. As Alan has already mentioned it used to be a bigger problem, which I believe was down to unique file names for the temporary copies of the report designs, the "pub" files which occasionally get left behind, this was fixed by adding the username as part of the temp file name.

Anyway to the point. SOP Batch processing still uses the old naming style (unless it has changed recently) and two users in Batch Processing can cause the problem. I get around this by having separate, but identical, document designs for the relevant users.

Since installing 2.80 they have been having other strange report design issues with for instance their invoices which are three chained designs. The 2nd and 3rd parts have been missing most of the content when printed, but the copy PDF attached to STRAN was fine. I asked their IT to double-check the AV settings which were apparently fine, but have not seen the problem since.

I Thought I must have an SCR for this and decided to dust off some old (late 2017) incidents, only to find this should have been fixed in Opera 3 v2.74.00.

So it may be safe to ignore the above ramblings, although I haven't done any specific testing.

Yes, we are seeing this more and more often. Most Opera but also Operations. Everything points to problems with Anti-virus. Obvious question is have you got real time access scanning exclusion for the Opera folder on the server and the local workstation?
