Logged with Pegasus for some time; we have this ongoing locking issue with one of our customers. Actually, we get this lock periodically with other customers too, but more so with this one.
This lock has been happening with their Opera3 and has continued through Opera version and PC version updates. Both their server and PCs continue to be supported versions.
There are only two users who use Opera. They work at a trade counter placing cash and trade invoices all day. No orders or deliveries, just Invoices. The invoices get printed to printer. There is no emailing involved.
For no reason; even when only one of the users is using Opera on a weekend shift, this lock appears on post. The retry doesn't work! Even if you get the other user out. If you click the retry too often, another message appears: "The document does not have a recognised document number. The changes you have made will not be saved. Please contact your Pegasus partner for assistance".
The only option they have is to back out of the invoice that they are working on and raise a new one. Both the document number and invoice number remain in their sequence with nothing missed. However, the unique ID in itran skips for the number of retries they do. We have used these missed ID numbers for analysis of how often the lock happens - 152 in March!
We have come to the conclusion that this is a self lock of some kind but the message is not helpful. We have looked at monitor users, server event viewers, file locks, record locking analysis but resulted in nothing concreate! No evidence that a lock should exist.
NOTE: Event viewer has been turned off for some time.
Any help, experience or advise would be appreciated?
